My T8011R display went blank. I took it off the wall, and there is an E-F marking with a circular cut out next to it (looks like a diode or the like, not sure if it actually rotates or not). What is the E-F indicate?

What is the E-F indicate? I can't find a switch anywhere. I had the same problem with my Honeywell T80001C, after a vicious thunderstorm and a one hour power outage, during the monsoons in Arizona. No display on the unit when the power came back on.
I new the problem wasn't a circuit breaker or GFI as the fan still worked when moving the FAN switch from AUTO to ON. The three booklets that came with the unit were of no use in solving this problem. I removed the unit from its wall bracket and toggled the switch on the back from 'F' to 'E' several times and back to 'F' as suggested by others. The switch position depends on whether you have electric or gas heating. 'E' for electric, 'F' for gas. Put the unit back on the wall. I tried this several more times and thought that this switch toggling was all bunk, then I read the solution by 'collinator' and thought, OK nothing to loose, took it off again toggled the switch left it in the 'E' position for 10-15 minutes, toggled it again, leaving it in the 'F' position.
After another half hour put it back and it worked!! Can't believe it, can't explain it, as the other guy said - be patient. Posted on Jul 24, 2010.
